Long-Term Followup and Deterioration Rate of Anterior Substitution Urethroplasty

RECONSTRUCTIVE urethral surgery has greatly improved in safety, variety and effectiveness during the last decades. Although endoscopic treatment can transiently improve urinary flow, open urethroplasty is now considered the gold standard treatment for anterior and posterior urethral strictures. Despite this fact and numerous descriptions of the techniques there are only a few published long-term results with more than 7 to 10 years of followup in large series of patients.
